Pharma Today: Worth Reading

  • Robert Steyer of the TheStreet.com gives a quick look into the third quarter for the pharmaceutical industry.

  • An article by Susan Kelleher and Duff Wilson of the Seattle Times, widely distributed by the KnightRidder/Chicago Tribune syndication service, takes a look at how the definition of who is sick? is changing and how pharma and regulators are involved in this evolution that, apparently, is broadening a marketplace where some 40 percent of Americans take one or more prescribed drugs daily.

    The article is part of a five-part series “Suddenly Sick,” which was published June 26-June 30.

  • From Ahmedabad.com, an online publication from Gujarat, India, a report on the opening of 86 engineering and pharmacy colleges, 11 medical colleges, 12 homeopathy, 10 physiotherapy and six dental colleges in the region. According to the article, there are some 14,000 engineering and pharma slots and some 3,7000 medical slots for students across the region.
